Looking to get even Christmassier this weekend?
We’ve got the answer.
Alozaina is hosting it’s third annual Christmas Artesanal Market, this year in collaboration with the Ruta de Tapas. This is the perfect opportunity to mix Christmas shopping with Christmas merrymaking.
The two-day event has been organized by Isabel de la Nieves and has been sponsored by Alozaina Town Hall. Taking place on the 15thand 16thof December from 11:00 – 19:00, the event will be held along the main street of Alozaina on Calle Calvario.
The market exists to promote local artists and artisans in the area and stalls will feature non-imported, non-wholesale and non-plastic items. Everything sold is created by the artists themselves or will represent work from a local artist or artisan in the valley.
Accompanying the market itself will be live Christmas music from the Alozaina choir, a folkloric flamenco group and other street performers. There will also be two workshops taking place; Christmas decoration making out of recycled materials for children with local artist Alloa Patricia and also a giant dreamcatcher workshop with Angie Jayne Coburn-Hough.
The event organizer Isabel de las Nieves has been a part of the Alozaina Community for over ten years and has been organizing events and supporting local art for over five. Isabel is an artist herself and you will find her stall next weekend selling her paintings on various different mediums including mugs and digital prints. The Mercado Navideño is just one of three culteral events Isabel curates during the year. The ‘midsummer night’s dream’ event is a nocturnal mini-festival of Art Crafts and Music with a full art exhibition, real crafts stalls and all night concerts, dance shows and theatre on a stage. There is also an event called the ‘Ruta del Arte’ in October which is a art exhibition along with an artist’s ‘open house’. Isabel would like to thank her friend and graphic designer Florence Marthe for the all the fantastic promotional artwork.
Come to Alozaina this weekend and be a part of this wonderful way of supporting local talent.
