How To Spend 24 Amazing Hours In Malaga

Plaza Constitución, Malaga

So, you’re on a whirlwind trip to the city of Malaga and want to pack as much as possible into 24 hours in the city? We’ve got you covered!

18:00 Arrive in Maria Zambrano

Whether you are driving into to the city or taking the bus or train from the airport, you will more than likely start your journey off near Maria Zambrano station. From here you are a 15 minute walk from the centre. We recommend touring the city on foot, the best way to sight-see in our opinion.

18:30 Alcazaba and roof top bar

Let’s leave the main strolling until tomorrow. It’s time to relax and take in the Malaga evening atmosphere. For us, the very first place to stop is La Terraza La Alcazaba, a roof top bar that overlooks the Alcazaba itself as well as the Malaga skyline. Order a cocktail and soak it all in! (the coconut mojitos are especially delicious).

19:30 Where to eat?

There are so many options! Here are some of our favourites depending on what you’re craving:

10:00 Breakfast

Breakfast in Malaga is a wonderful thing. Treat yourself to some churros and hot chocolate at a local cafe.

11:00 A walk around the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro

If you’re visiting Malaga in the summer months, a trip to the Alcazaba is best done in the morning. The old moorish castle is a maze of ruins and beautiful gardens. For more information, prices and opening times, check out their website here.

14:00 Lunch

Is there anything better than sitting in the sun and ordering a tapa or two?

Our current favourite spot is La Farola De Orellana, a small tapas bar that is usually packed to the rafters with locals. Stand at the bar, order a couple of cañas of Victoria beer and order their spicy potatoes, papas a la mala leche, literally translated to bad tempered potatoes. The atmosphere is buzzing.

15:00 A wonder down to the port

After a couple of cervezas and some food, you are a hop skip and a jump from Malaga port; a great place to stroll, watch the ships come in and have a coffee and an ice cream.

16.00 Museums

It would a crime to visit Malaga and not visit one it’s many museums. There is something for everyone. From the Picasso Museum to the Pompidou Museum, there is sure to be something that sparks your interest.
