FAQ’s : How To Buy A Property In Inland Malaga

So, you are already an expert in the three step buying process but still have a few queries about other aspects of buying in the Inland Malaga area…

Maybe we can be of assistance?

How long does the buying process take?

The time frame for purchasing in this area is totally flexible. Completion dates are completely dependant on the wants and needs of yourselves and the vendor. This approximate end date will be decided at the point of reservation. The date can be brought forward if desired but can only be pushed back if both parties are in agreement.

What if I can’t travel over for completion?

Don’t worry! If you arrange a Power of Attorney, you’re legal representative can sign on your behalf and keep the keys for you for your arrival. PoA can be arranged here in Spain or remotely.

What documents do I need to able to purchasing a property in Inland Malaga?

All you need to purchase in Spain is an NIE number and a Spanish bank account. If you don’t have these things you can either arrange them yourself or, if you have power of attorney, your legal representative can arrange both for you.

What sort of offer can I make on a property in this area?

This is a difficult question to answer. We would recommend first of all to offer with good will as in the long run, sales tend to run smoother if the buying and selling parties are on good terms.

The amount a vendor is willing to negotiate also depends on their personal situation, some vendors are more motivated to sell than others. Our job as negotiators is to find a happy middle ground and ensure that both parties are satisfied with the final transaction.

What’s the best way to change my money over from Pound Sterling without losing money on exchange rates?

The best way without a doubt to currency convert large quantities of money is with the specialists. Companies like RationalFX or MoneyCorp can create you an account and fix a exchange rate when things are swinging in your favour so you know for certain how much you are paying.

How do know I that what I’m buying is legal?

We have all heard the horror stories about buying abroad and from what you can read online, I am not surprised this is one of the questions we get asked the most.

The single most important thing when buying a property in this area, aside from having a great estate agent (wink wink), is to hire a legal representative that specialises in properties in your area. So, if you are purchasing a property inland, hire a legal representative the specialises in country properties. We would be more than happy to point you in the right direction.

Another point to be aware of is that your deposit money is protected at all times. If your representative finds a discrepancy in the paperwork that cannot be solved and you feel uncomfortable with proceeding, you will receive your deposit back in full.
